It's non actually a prompt - just a identify on the Ribbon where you can go help if yous want it.

Sushma is right - it tin't be removed from the Ribbon - nearly people simply ignore it when they're not using it.

I hold with you! That is super abrasive. I think I will switch back to 2015 which did not include this feature. There should be an option to remove information technology for avant-garde users. This sounds like the Paper Prune Guy fiasco. Atleast u could get rid of that particular noob assistant.

I don't sympathise what the issue is. Information technology doesn't prompt you or interrupt y'all or brand you do anything. It'due south one small line of text tucked upwards at the top of the window.

It's not similar Clippy who would occasionally pop upwards to enquire if he tin help.

I meant revert to 2013, btw.

The issue is that if one is working on a artistic or even a enquiry based piece then it is most productive to eliminate distractions, therefore the possibility of request a question irrelevant to the slice at hand is harmful to productivity even though the tool was created with that purpose in mind. If we wanted help we can always employ other sources. Therefore, there should exist an update with an option to remove it. However, I'll acknowledge that it can be helpful, but if i practise need it then i would open information technology up at my own discretion. thx

This wasn't helpful at all.

While I appreciate your new Bone (Windows x) and office 2016, I have to ask:  Was this created with complete morons in mind?

It has taken me hours to remove all the stupid popular-ups and suggestions that only an idiot monkey could perhaps have any sort of use for.

I wonder at your QI and market place research that told yous that your average user is a complete maroon and has never touched a computer before.

Do you, at MS, honestly believe that we are complete novices to using computers or modernistic technologies?  I tin't imagine you are all then blind as to believe that.

Now we are stuck with pointless "Tell me what you want to practice..." boxes when, 99.999999% of us already know what to do.  We are stuck with "tips" that are, not simply invasive, but offer nothing.  Nosotros are stuck with your programs defaulting to styles and formats that no-one in their right listen could ever take any use for.  We are stuck with obsessive marketing ploys for products that nosotros have no use for and nosotros are stuck with your obsession with "trusting" y'all to manage all of our documentation and security protocols despite that fact that, according to SOX regulations, we, every bit publicly traded companies, cannot fifty-fifty use your "cloud".

Please.  Stop treating us like ignorant babies and allow the states brand some of our own decisions.  I absolutely loathe Apple, just am considering moving all of my accounts to them.  Aye, they are rather outrageously "user friendly", but, they are not so invasive as to think we are completely blind to naked marketing ploys.  They, at least, accept the sense to do it stealthily!

I hold totally with the above.

I write a lot of MS Admission GUIs and having this on the ribbon allows the users to do things that the systems I build are not supposed to do.

Allowing the user to import data from Excel without a VBA command or create a new form or manage human relationship themselves just allows the whole system that I take congenital to be bastardised.

Just as well I know how to remove the ribbon completely in VBA, or has that changed since MS Admission 2013?? I guess I shall accept to find out.

I totally agree also.

Its a big lark when a caption occupies such a disproprtionate amount of space.

And by the fashion, Microsoft, every mail on this page, and all of the thumbs upwards for them, are in fact 'telling you lot what we want you to do'

It appears removing this annoying box is incommunicable. For what it'south worth, the reason why it's upwards at that place and impossible to remove, is Microsft's natural corporation instinct to expand market place share in the "clueless people" demographic sector, people for whom the ribbon is an unsolvable mystery. With the "tell me" box, you lot don't need the ribbon. Of course, we never needed the ribbon anyway, all we demand is a flexible highly configurable QAT; but if the ribbon is a mystery, the configurable QAT is a divine portent to the clueless, akin to the monolith to Moon-Watcher.

Anyway, the best I have been able to figure out in this fight against this Microsoft'due south epidemic of clueless-peopletropism is to shove the damn box aside. Information technology won't disappear, just similar tuberculosis and malaria never become away one time you get them, just the symptoms will be at least a flake more manageable and you lot will feel a bit less powerless because at to the lowest degree you could practise something about it.

So, to shove the thing aside you lot have to "Customize the ribbon" (right click on the ribbon) by adding "New Tabs." With my current format I had to add ten new tabs to shove the "tell me" box as far right as it would go. Other formats may require more than or less new tabs. Of course, when yous add together a new tab, the thing says "New Tab," which is also distracting. And so you "Rename" each "New Tab" by deleting the words "New Tab." That gives yous a blank on the ribbon (mind you, this is a collapsed ribbon we are talking virtually; on account of the ribbon being pretty much worthless anyway).

Like I said, it's not a perfect solution but at to the lowest degree it shoves the box to the right and chops it down to only ii words plus the stupid calorie-free bulb.

We are but starting this. This is but May 2016. By the time we figure out how to completely eliminate the stupid box, the corporate fiends at Microsoft will take launched a lusciously crapware-full new Office XXXX and we'll have to offset all over once more. Nosotros must imagine Sisyphus is happy.
