This one is long pending.. My toddler is now fourteen months and I still am in awe with her 9months photoshoot!! We are still in awe at how fast the time flies and how beautifully we could capture all the amazing memories of our little bundle of joy. Ever since ana was born I wanted to plan a newborn photo shoot for her, I had already discussed and finalized everything with my pal photographers but then, once I delivered her things were never the same. I didn't get chance to carry out the most awaited new born shoot ( that generally has to be done within first few weeks of baby being born) later when she was 6 month old, I was literally pushed by my friends to go ahead with the shoot as they were scared she would soon be crawling and all around place in no time, making it difficult for them to capture her in pictures (yes six months is called the ideal time to finish your baby photo shoot, any later than that goes directly into toddler shoots) However as luck would have it, my lill one never crawled!!! Giving me ample of time to arrange an amazing DIY creative photoshoot for her even at 9 months.

It was difficult to find a decent baby photographer in pune within my budget, who would understand what I wanted for this shoot and give me exactly that! After a lot of searching and discussing, I finally zeroed in on Edita Photography at Bavdhan. This friendly lady Edita Paluri, had an impressive portfolio and a sweet voice to coo the crankiest babies, that was the heads up for me. I totally loved her outdoor pictures and that's what I was keen on doing, since the studio pictures are too passé and these days its more about outdoor fun and candid clicks. When doing a baby photo shoot, your back yard or near by park is the best option. Since your baby is familiar with the surroundings its more likely for them to be at home and feel comfortable, which is really important both for great pictures and a happy baby which is every mothers dream. Only hurdle was, Edita did not give home visit and taking anayah to her place which was quite far from us resulted into not much fun and a crying baby. However we managed to take a few great shots at her makeshift studio at home with super natural lighting and all her hand made props which kind of compensated for the traveling. However the time span being a major restraint(will be covering about in the review section) the shoot had to be wrapped up before we could get all what we wanted as ana was already super cranky by then. The next time I requested Edita to come to our place that would be more comfortable for the little one, so that we could take better pictures and thus we finished the shoot in two sessions. The Mirror Reflection – baby photo shoot ideas

This is one of my most favorite shots amongst all. Just like us, babies love to see their reflection in mirror. It creates a sense of awe, amazement, recognition and joy in them to see themselves in the mirror. Studies suggest this activity also helps them to develop their social skills and understand emotions. Most importantly the shots turn out really adorable and beautiful.

Bare baby bum with stuffed animals – baby photo shoot ideas

This shot is the most cute and most popular among all the 9 month baby shoots. Nothing can beat the cuteness of a chubby baby bum with stuffed animals. This back shot of naked baby with her soft toys in natural light has a charismatic effect, mostly  because the baby is all by itself playing and doing stuff she loves the best.

We decided to take two such shots, one the traditional bare bum and the other one her playing and giggling with her soft toys and we totally loved both of them.

While you are at it, do take some natural baby shots of your little one.. These little cupcakes looks best in their birthday suits..After all they are born that way :).. Put up a cute tie or a pretty hair band or bow and let them play with their fingers and toes.

Fitting into moms shoes is something every baby tries to do once she is up and about and if its a baby girl you sure are up for some grooming imitation by your kiddo. My lo loves to don every thing mom has from her shoes to her bags and lipsticks and this was a totally natural shot. No doubt since anayah was 9 month old then and did not walk independently it was more of her playing with my shoes rather than wearing them. Nevertheless I loved the outcome.

Tutu skirt & Pompoms – baby photo shoot ideas

Nothing is as cute as a tutu on a baby girl and no shoot is ever complete without some fun shots in the park with the baby wearing a tutu and some pompoms or balloons near by.

The Mermaid Crochet- baby photo shoot ideas

Using baby photo shoot props has taken vogue since past few years. A range of cute little adorable crocheted outfits from bunny to pea-pod and angel wings to mermaid are available for new born and babies. These props make those cute pumpkins look all the more edible and super adorable. Since ana had grown up and was able to sit independently, we went for the mermaid pose which turned out real well.. I only wished we had a beach background and some sea shells.. Well some other time! 🙂

Tiny little details- baby macro photography

When it comes to baby photography, its all in the tiny details. Those tiny hands, edible cheeks, beautiful eye-lashes, small fingers and cutest fingernails.. there is so much of your baby you would want to preserve for life-time and you need a real good photographer to do that… One who is pro with using macro lens and has an edge over macro photography. Also the age of you baby and time frame of photo session also matters. If you have a new-born, its pretty easy to capture such shots, but for older, active babies it can become a real task. Also if you are short on time or your package is a time bound one then that's an added constrain as such shots require time and patience. But once taken they are there for lifetime, you will totally feel it was worth all the pain when you will rejoice seeing the close life like shots of your little one, long after he/she has grown up.

Tiny details

The shots turned out pretty decent, however I wasnt too happy with the result as they did not meet my expectations. I wants more clearer, detailed version of them and I wanted her charismatic features like big eyes, huge eyelashes and cutest pout to be covered. However she was alreay 9 months and it was difficult to capture all her emotions by then. Moreover since Edita has a time frame for every child she shoots, its not kind of a whole day shoot where in the baby is put to sleep and then the photographer takes the sleeping shots and when the baby is up and about they take the candid shots. I did find that such photography needs dedicated people who are ready to spend time and stay with you and your little one for the whole day, capturing as and when you go about doing your routine stuff with your little one. That way things are more natural, babies are more at ease and you have a lot of time at hand.

Mom & Baby Outdoor Shots – Baby photoshoot tips

Babies are most close to their mommies and vice-versa, these two share a really special bond that can not be put into words, if anything can ever try to express it, it would be a candid lifelike picture. Which is why Mom and Baby outdoor shots are a hit among the baby photoshoot ideas, best among them being the air throw and the shoulder cuddle. Play around with your baby sitting down in the wilderness, wearing your best flowy gown and it can make up for an amazing shot.

Your own baby in flower basket beats every cute animal you have ever imagined in a cane basket ever in your teens, Trust me on that! She looked oh so adorable! in this cane basket that we took both indoor and outdoor shots of her, one draped in cozy draperies and other one like a tea-garden shot with a red rose hair-band!

Looking into the eye shot – Baby photoshoot tips

Babies hardly ever look directly into the camera, they are more interested in looking at human faces, which is why a baby looking into the eye is a rare shot that very few manage to take, even though it captures her exact emotions and the picture feels so real you will want to ahead and touch it. I totally did. This picture now adores my work area wall, every time i miss being around my lo, which is hardly for an hour or so while shes sleeping 😛 (yes I am a crazy mom!), I look at this one and smile.

Baby with antique prop – Baby photoshoot tips

Having a colorful antique item as a prop for your baby shoot can prove to be a great idea. Put your baby in that old wooden chair of your grandmas or in that red honeymoon suitcase filled with clothes or give her an antique umbrella to play with. These baby props make for a wonderful shot bringing out the fun element and a bright colorful picture to look at.

Candid Family shots – Baby photoshoot tips

Best shots are always candid and this stands true even for babies. It was a real pleasure to see my 9 month old being hauled up on daddy's shoulders and play " ghoda ghoda" or going down on the grass lawn with her and having some family time while the photographer did her work.

Positives

1. Amazing quality pictures & good photography technique
2. She has got really cute baby props that you could utilize in the shots and she gives great ideas if you ever run out of any
3. Good natural lighting and backgrounds at her home
4. Sweet voice and interacts with baby very warmly, lets her take her own sweet time to open up
5. She has got a real friendly soft toy put on her camera that attracts babies to look at it (nice idea)
6. She has a lovely home and a great garden area at her place
7. She is a friendly photographer and picks your phone everytime (must for new moms :P)

Negetives

1. Her packages are slightly expensive than other contemporary photographers available in pune
2. She has a time limit of few hours for a shoot and mostly a baby shoot will take longer than that time limits, moreover babies don't follow schedules. I'd really prefer her to spend a day or half day with the client and baby to get more cozy
3. She has a pictures limit in every package and doesnt share even the soft copy for selection ( Don't expect to get all the shots that she has taken, she won't be sharing all of them with you, not even in low resolution to select your choice. you will have to trust the photographer to give you her best out of all of them.)
4. There is no briefing meeting and you need to travel to her place for the session
